STIs in women: What you need to know?

STIs or sexually transmitted infections, are infections that can be transmitted from one person to another through sexual contact. They can be caused by viruses, bacteria or parasites.

STIs are very common, especially among young people. According to the Centre's for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than half of sexually active adults in the United States will have an STI at some point in their lives.

Women in their twenties and thirties are at particularly high risk for STIs. This is because they are more likely to have new sexual partners and to have sex without condoms.
