PID is an infection of the organs of the female reproductive system. It usually occurs due to some STDs, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. The bacteria spread from the woman’s vagina to her pelvic organs which are in the lower abdomen, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and cervix.
