A mother-to-be faces a rollercoaster of emotions that vary from immense unbridled joy to anxiety and fear. Apart from her emotional state, a woman is also preparing to become a mother both physically and emotionally, and without the help of a strong support system, it can be incredibly tough. So the best thing to do is to find a reliable hospital that encompasses all maternity care under a single roof.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. The same applies to labour and delivery. Different healthcare professionals come together and work as a team to provide the best maternity care. Most women choose whether they wish to consult a General practitioner, a midwife, an obstetrician, or a combination of these. Apart from them, an anesthesiologist and gynaecologists are must-have doctors and apart from the doctors, medical support such as nurses, lab analysts and other healthcare professionals are vital during labour and delivery. How do you keep the female reproductive system healthy? I Dr. Meghana D Sarvaiya
"Today everybody is worried about their reproductive health because of lot of issues that we face related to the reproductive organ. So how do we keep our reproductive organ healthy? Most important is for a healthy body is to have a healthy mind. So if we are very well versed with a balanced mind, we will be able to keep our body healthy. But some practical tips which is required for our reproductive health is important that we should be having a very healthy diet that is high in fiber as well as less in carbohydrates and fats. Secondly we have to quit smoking, alcohol and drugs from our body. Plenty of water should be consumed and also we should maintain a very personal hygiene and also regular visits to the gynecologist, every once in a year, regular pap smears and ultraosonograpy should be done and also all the problems related to the menstrual cycle like excessive weight gain should be in a check. So regular exercise, and maintaining stress in a very healthy way is the key to maintain a proper reproductive health"
What precautions to be taken in Twin Pregnancy? | Dr. Nikhil D Datar
"Twins, triplets, multiple pregnancies these words are heard more commonly today. Thanks to the artificial reproductive technologies, that means the use of test tube baby for IVF. That is why we are seeing or hearing these terms very common. The natural incidence of twins is seen on out of 99 pregnancies, which means naturally human uterus is not made to carry two pregnancy .usually it carries only 1 pregnancy. But it is only because of IVF and other technology that we find these twins, triplets more common. So what special care is needed for twin pregnancy or triplet pregnancy? Well, the body is much more at stress because it has to take care of 2 pregnancy instead of 1 pregnancy. So anemia, that is less of hemoglobin, blood pressure we and increase of blood pressure, diabetes in pregnancy premature delivery of premature labor. These are very few common problems that can occur because of twin pregnancy or multiple pregnancy. So in short in one hand, it is double dhamaka and in the other hand it is a double dhamaka too. And that is exactly the reason for which going to the right hospital, choosing the right doctor for treatment is absolutely vital and it only stays as double dhamaka and not a double trouble"
Ovarian Cyst Symptoms, Causes and Treatment I Dr. Nikhil D Datar
"Many at times women come to us with a sonography report showing that there is an ovarian cyst. So a few take home messages for you. Number one, ovarian cyst are very common amongst women. Number two, most oftenly ovarian cysts are not cancerous. There are some very specific tests done to find out if a given cyst can be treated very easily. There are few cysts which are not cancerous and they need to be treated surgically and in today’s era these treatments are done laparoscopically, that means we do not need to do a major surgery , open up the abdomen etc. So recovery is much faster and we send patients home immediately on the second day of surgery"
What to do if you are pregnant and don't want the baby? I Dr. Nikhil D Datar
"Many at times a women lands up in a tricky situation, on one hand she does not want to continue the pregnancy but she finds herself to be pregnant. In India it is perfectly legal. So it is your right as a woman to go to your doctor, upto 20 weeks of pregnancy, it is possible. It can be done in a very safe manner. The earlier you go, the termination can be done by giving medication. In short it is a very safe procedure to undergo. Upto 20 weeks, there is absolutely no problem"
Can Fibroid be removed without surgery? I Dr. Nikhil D Datar
"It is very common that a woman comes to us with a songraphy report which shows presence of a fibroid. We all must understand that fibroids primarily speaking means that there is a small bag inside the uterus. These fibroids are usually not malignant and just because there is a fibroid, it doesn’t mean that it requires a treatment. So when do you treat a fibroid or when a woman should actually undergo a treatment for fibroid? The answer is that one will like to treat the fibroid only if they are causing some problem. So what problem can occur because of fibroids. Usually when we have fibroids, we have menstrual irregularities, means you tend to have excessive amount of bleeding during periods or periods may come too frequently or they can become too painful if there is as problem with you period and then you have a fibroids, then probably you need a treatment for fibroids. Similarly a large fibroid can interfere with your bowel function, can interfere with your urinary function. They can cause a lot of weight, a sense of heaviness in your lower abdomen. So if you are having these type of problems, then probably fibroid needs to be treated. If the fibroid is interfering with you becoming pregnant, then again you require to treat the fibroid. Most often people are under the impression that fibroids automatically means surgery but that is not necessary. There are many non surgical treatments for fibroid and one can do this treatment for fibroid so that the problem can be taken care. In today’s days treatment of fibroid has become, much easier. The surgeries has also become very very easy. Today we are able to do the surgeries laparoscopically, that is the keyhole surgery. The recovery is very fast and we are able to send the people home only after a day or two after the surgery. Although even if the surgery has become fantastic and it is very good to undergo one, one should undergo surgery only if it is needed and not otherwise just because fibroid is seen in the report of sonography"
Ways to prevent Back Pain after delivery I Dr. Nikhil D Datar
"Having back pain after delivery is a very very common problem. Most of the women come to us with this problem. Now it is primarily because of a very faulty breast feeding position. Many at times you do to take adequate amount of support at the back. The position of breast feeding can be faulty. So your back is in an unnecessarily stretched situation. So you can get backache. Second common reason is contracting or involuting uterus. So after delivery everybody knows that the uterus will shrink in size, it will become smaller in size. While this is happening this will give rise to some kind of a lower back ache. The third common thing in our country and it is something that every pregnant women or delivering mother should be aware of , is severe lack of calcium and lack of vitamin. When you are by breast feeding you are loosing a lot of calcium through breast milk and it will go to the baby. So your calcium levels are going to go down and this is one of the reason that because of it you may have a chronic type of low backache. Last and most important is that back exercises post delivery are absolutely crucial. If your back muscles are strengthened and strong, then believe me you will not have back pain, which is a very common problem after the delivery takes place"
