NICU

Best Neonatal Hospital in Bangalore

Premature births are described in a variety of ways:

  • The term refers to a child who has been in the womb for at least 37 weeks (gestation)
  • Newborn born preterm is one conceived before 37 weeks of pregnancy.
  • A newborn delivered between 32 and 36 weeks is moderate to late preterm.
  • A newborn between 28 and 32 weeks gestation is considered very preterm.
  • A newborn delivered at or before 28 weeks of gestation is considered extremely preterm.

Babies born prematurely may have underdeveloped lungs, trouble controlling their body temperatures, poor eating habits and delayed weight gain. A medical team at the NICU promptly assesses their vital signs, level of consciousness and general health following birth. Cloudnine Bangalore, being the Best Neonatal Hospital in Bangalore, has a Level III NICU with an ecosystem tailored to provide critical life support, specialised care of infants born as early as 27 to 30 weeks, treatment for serious illnesses and full-spectrum respiratory support including high-frequency ventilation and advanced imaging.

What Happens in the Neonatal Period?

The newborn phase is a time of significant change. Many examinations and tests will be performed on your infant to check for common illnesses, hearing issues and other issues. In addition, they will get several immunizations. You could be required to choose a paediatrician at the NICU hospital in Bangalore. In this first week, bonding and feeding are the main priorities. In the second stage, eating and sleeping patterns fluctuate. Most infants will eat 16 to 24 ounces of breast milk during the third stage. At this stage, your baby's muscle control will start to develop. In the final step, when your baby's hearing and vision improve, they may respond to you more.

MASK FOR A CHILD – Know the Right Age! I Dr. Spoorti Kapate
"So the WHO mandates masks for age 12 years and above and they are supposed to follow the same guidelines as adults follow. Between 5 to 11 years above 5 years is what the WHO says children can start wearing masks but it depends because there are some kids who might not cooperate on wearing masks. So it depends on child to child basis. It depends on the infectivity around that area, depends on the people in the family who are affected or not. If at all a child is between 5 to 11 years and the child is wearing a mask it is advisable that you teach the children a little bit about the mask and how to wear it and hygiene following around it like for example the mask should be the appropriate size. It should cover the nose, the mouth, the chin you have to make sure that you tell the child that the baby or child should not touch the mask again and again should not keep pulling down the mask again and again and before wearing the mask you're supposed to either use a sanitizer or use soap and water to clean your hands and correctly store the mask also. You can't just keep it lying. So to answer the question, age five and above children are allowed to wear masks"
BABY DRINK MOTHER’S MILK - For how long? I Dr. Spoorti Kapate
"WHO recommends exclusive breast feeding upto 6 months of age, which means you are not supposed to give water, digestive enzymes, honey, gripe water, animal milk, anything apart from breast milk to your baby upto the age of 6 months"
TIPS to Manage a child at home with MILD COVID SYMPTOMS I Dr. Nilesh Rao
"So if your child has been diagnosed with mild COVID 19 symptoms, you have to ensure that he is hydrated well and you are monitoring the vital parameters and the urine output. So antibiotics are routinely not recommended in children with covid 19 infection paractetamol may be given orally for control of fever. Also you can do sponging with warm water, you can give fruits rich in vitamins A and C that is locally available fruits and vegetables. It is prudent to do teleconsultation with a pediatrician whenever you have any queries and monitor the oxygen saturation with pulse oximeter 3 to 4 times a day and ensure that the oxygen saturation is more than 95%. We should also be aware of the danger signs which will be urgent transport or visits to a hospital. That is high fever lasting for more than 3 days, recurrent vomiting, loose stools, reduced urine output, excessive lethargy or sleepiness in the child, excessive rashes in the body or swelling of the limbs or things like fits or seizures"
BLACK FUNGUS' in children with COVID I Dr. Nilesh Rao
"The black fungus has caused a lot of panic recently during the second wave, so what is the black fungus? It is caused by an infection called as the “mucor” which is called as mucormycosis"
If a family member gets COVID how to prevent household spread? I Dr. Nilesh Rao
"If a family member is covid positive , it is prudent to isolate the family member who is positive enough in a separate room. So both parents are positive and there is no help, then it is better to wear double mask when handling the child and also to keep the house well ventilated and ensure a separate wash room for the child. Clean the high touch areas with soap or with a soap based liquid"
Can we get children vaccinated against Covid -19 soon? I Dr. Nilesh Rao
"There is ongoing research worldwide regarding vaccination in children and there are many studies which are in various phases. However we can expect vaccines by this year end or early 2022. We now the Indian vaccine covaxin trials are ongoing for 12 to 18 year old kids and also for 6 to 12 year old kids so we will wait for the results. The covishiled vaccines trial started in February 2021 , but has been halted due to various reasons. So currently in the united states the older kids are being vaccinated with the mRNA vaccines. There is also a new vaccine which is a recombinant nano particle protein based vaccine which is called as covovax which may be available in India by the year end"
