"So PGD and PGS these are the old terminologies. PGS means Pre Genetic Screening and PGD is Pre Genetic Diagnosis. So initially we used to do differently, that is screening means the patient doesn't have any history of previous abnormalities in the previous pregnancies or in the family. They just want to screen whether the embryos are genetically normal another form was PGD that is Pregenetic Diagnosis in patients who have had history of genetic abnormality in their previous child birth or there is a history of genetic abnormality in the family. Right now these two terminologies has been combined and the new terminology is Pre Genetic Testing which is PGT. So what is PGT is in an IVF where we remove the eggs fertilize with the sperm and form the embryos these embryos, we will be doing a biopsy and we test the embryos whether they are genetically normal before we transfer into the wife's uterus. So we get to know whether these embryos are genetically normal or not ideally to be done in patients who have had repeated IVF failure repeated abortions or the couple's age is more that is like 38 - 39 years of age, where we want to screen for any genetic abnormalities in the embryos or if you have a history of genetic abnormalities in the family then we can go for PGT"
