Dr. Sushil Kumar KMD Pediatrics | DM NeonatologyAssistant Professor, Department of Neonatology, SGPGIMS, LucknowDr. Sushil Kumar K is a dedicated neonatologist with over 10 years of clinical, academic, and administrative experience in Level III neonatal intensive care. He currently serves as Assistant Professor, Department of Neonatology, SGPGIMS Lucknow, where he manages a 30-bedded high-acuity NICU caring for extreme preterm, surgical, and complex congenital heart disease neonates.His clinical expertise spans advanced respiratory and cardiac care, including invasive ventilation, HFOV, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, and hemodynamic support. He is proficient in POCUS-guided functional echocardiography, lung ultrasound, and aEEG neuromonitoring for high-risk neonates. He also leads neonatal vaccination and neurodevelopmental follow-up clinics.Academically, Dr. Kumar is actively involved in teaching DM Neonatology residents, moderating seminars, journal clubs, and drafting academic rosters. He has organized multiple national workshops as Chief/Joint Organizing Secretary, including NNF POCUS, SHINE Postgraduate Workshop, and IAP NEOCON 2025. He is a certified NRP, ALS, and BLS trainer.His research contributions include 5 international publications on neonatal sepsis, pulse oximetry, and congenital heart disease screening. He received the Prof. Meharban Singh Best Research Paper Award at IAP NEOCON 2023 and presented at PAS 2023, Washington D.C.Clinically, he led a landmark neonatal pacemaker implantation and UP’s first Piccolo™ device–based PDA closure in a preterm neonate. He serves on SGPGIMS’ NAAC accreditation team and manages critical equipment procurement and quality assurance.
