Dr. Sowmya K is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with over 21 years of clinical, surgical, and academic experience across leading tertiary care hospitals in Bengaluru. She specializes in high-risk obstetrics, gynaecological surgery, endoscopic (laparoscopic) procedures, and gynaecological ultrasonography

She served as Senior Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru from 2017 to 2026 for 9 years and also at A M Hospital, Bengaluru, since 2008 till date.

She has held significant academic positions, including Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Sri Chamundeswari Medical College from 2023-2025 and, prior to that, a 12-year academic journey at KIMS Hospital & Research Centre, Bengaluru from 2008-2020— progressing from Senior Resident to Associate Professor. Throughout these roles, she has mentored generations of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students while managing a high-volume caseload of normal and high-risk obstetric patients.

She has 6 international and 3 national peer-reviewed journals to her credit and has participated in a multicentric studies. She has also contributed as faculty for the BSOG Postgraduate Workshop and participated in initiatives such as the FOGSI Women Wellbeing Initiative.
