A question that almost every expecting mother asks is — “Will my delivery be vaginal or a C-section?” In this video, Dr. Richa Singhal, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Cloudnine Hospital, Patparganj, New Delhi, explains that the mode of delivery is not predetermined but depends on several factors related to both the mother and the baby. One of the most important aspects doctors consider is the baby’s position in the womb during the later stages of pregnancy. When the baby is in a head-down, or cephalic position, a vaginal delivery is usually safe and preferred. However, if the baby is in a breech (bottom-first) or transverse (sideways) position, a C-section is often recommended to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby. Dr. Singhal reassures that every delivery decision is made with utmost care, keeping both comfort and safety at the centre of the process.
