"Exact cause of uterine fibroids is not clear, various factors influence the growth of the fibroids like genetic factors, hormonal influence, growth factors and also the abnormal vascular pattern within the uterus, coming to familial incidence, a mother whose mother, or sister or grandmother what a fibroid are at risk of having fibroids 3 times higher. Two major hormones at is estrogen and progesterone that is secreted by the ovaries influence the growth of fibroids. So we can see that fibroids increase in size during pregnancy and during poeriomenopausal period, people in perimeopausal age. 20% of them are around 20 years of age. 40% or more are between 35 and 45 years of age. Women with history of diabetes increased birth weight or obesity, history of vitamin D deficiency and family history are at increased risk of fibroids"
