गर्भावस्था के दौरान शिशुओं में नवजात हृदय रोग के कारण, लक्षण और जांच | Dr. Asmita Singh
FIBROID TREATMENT | How are fibroids treated? I Dr. Shilpa Kiran
"Fibroids are managed in 2 ways, medical management or conservative and surgical management. In medical management the way is not exactly removal fo the fibroid. In surgical management it is myomectomy or laparoscopy. The other newer technique where interventional radiology is involved is uterine artery embolisation, radiofrequency ablation and high intensity focused ultrasound. These are the newer techniques in treating fibroids"
WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO DIAGNOSE FIBROIDS? I Dr. Shilpa Kiran
"Ultrasound is the best imaging modality to diagnose fibroids. Both transabdominal or transvaginal"
All about UTERINE FIBROIDS | Is it cancerous? I Dr.Shilpa Kiran
Uterine fibroids are benign, non cancerous. Very rarely it turns malignant only 0.1% in reproductive age group and 1.7% in a woman above 60 years of age. If we see that fibroid is growing very fast, then the possibility of the cancer to be rule d out. It is also called as Leiomyomas. It changes into Sarcomatous changes, which will be again by biopsy.
Effects of UTERINE FIBROIDS on PREGNANCY? I Dr. Shilpa Kiran
"Uterine fibroids has various implications on pregnancy and its outcome., this depends on the size and the location of the fibroids. it can press on the uterus causing premature uterine contractions, causing preterm delivery., some fibroids undergo changes or degenerative changes causing pain. The cesarean section is more common in women with fibroids. It again depends on the size and the location of the fibroids., fetus can have a malpresentation or it can cause abnormal bleeding due to due to separation of the placenta. All this depends on the location of the fibroids mainly"
Main SYMPTOMS of UTERINE FIBROID in women I Dr. Shilpa Kiran
"Most of the times fibroids are detected incidentally or diagnosed incidentally. 50% of the times they are asymptomatic they don’t present with any symptoms. Another 50% of the times they are symptomatic and they can presents with various symptoms. Commonly the abnormal uterine bleeding, anemia, due to blood loss, pelvic pain and pressure or reproductive dysfunction. In abnormal uterine bleeding there can be heavy menstrual cycle with passing of clots, suppose a woman can have her cycles for 14 days instead of a normal 4 to 5 days cycle. menstrual bleeding, pain during periods there may be anemia due to heavy blood loss and pelvic pressure and pain. There some are may due to subserosal fibroids that presses on the adjacent organs. There may be heaviness or illness in the pelvis. Suppose if it presses on the adjacent organ like the bladder that is filled with urine there is frequency and urgency to pass urine fibroid is large enough to press on the uterus. In the long term it can cause kidney damage. If it presses on the intestine or the rectum lower down then you can have constipation. Infertility miscarriages this is common with corneal fibroid, subserosal fibroid, submucosal and intramural fibroids and miscarriages are also common with cervical fibroids"

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Who is a radiologist?

Radiologists are doctors that specialise in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases using medical imaging such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasound.

What is interventional radiology?

Interventional radiology (IR) is a specialised field within radiology where doctors use medical imaging to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures that diagnose, treat, and cure many kinds of conditions. Interventional radiology procedures are cheaper, less risky and less painful when compared to conventional surgeries.

What are the different types of imaging services Cloudnine offers?

Cloudnine’s Department of Radiology provides the best-in-class radiology and imaging services such as X-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), Nuclear medicine, Ultrasound, and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). The equipment used creates images of high quality that are useful in the diagnosis of different diseases.

What is an X-ray?

X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation that is used to produce images of the structures inside our body. They are primarily used to look at the bones and joints and sometimes soft tissue, such as internal organs as well. They can detect bone fractures and breaks painlessly.

What is Ultrasonography?

The diagnostic procedure in which high-frequency sound (ultrasound) waves are used to produce images of internal organs and other tissues is called ultrasonography. It is used for several purposes, including during pregnancy, for diagnosing conditions and for image guidance during certain procedures.

What is a 3D scan for pregnancy?

Normal ultrasound reports give 2-dimensional images of your baby in black and white. 3D scans show coloured still pictures of your baby in three dimensions. The images are sharper and clearer. Apart from giving a much better look at your baby's face, when used along with a 2D scan, they can help in the earlier diagnosis of many potential foetal defects.

What is an MRI scan?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. MRIs can be done on different parts of your body. It is especially useful for looking at soft tissues and the nervous system.

What is a CT scan?

CT scan or Computerised Tomography combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles around your body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the inside of the body. It shows detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels.

Is diagnostic imaging safe for pregnant women?

Ultrasonography (USG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are completely safe for pregnant women and are the preferred imaging technique during pregnancy. Even in computed tomography (CT) scans, the radiation exposure to the foetus is so negligible that it cannot harm. X-ray examinations of body parts like arms, legs, head, teeth, or chest do not expose the reproductive organs to the direct X-ray beam. So these kinds of procedures, when properly done, do not involve any risk to the unborn child.
