Neonatology is a subspecialty of paediatrics that is rooted in the medical care of newborn infants, especially those that are premature or ill. Neonatology is a hospital-based specialty that is helmed by neonatologists and typically underpinned by superior equipment housed in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). More than 50% of neonatal problems and deaths are spurred on by gastrointestinal disorders. Through the National Neo-Gastrocon 2017, we aim to illuminate elements of evidence-based medicine in neonatal gastroenterology.

In the three-day conference, we will touch on an array of topics, including the importance of breast milk, the risk of necrotising enterocolitis, surgical interventions and possible oncological and metabolic disorders in newborns. Our esteemed panel of speakers will also delve into how poor digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats may trigger digestive disorders.

Over the past decade, we have celebrated over 46,000 births on Cloudnine. And yet, we have witnessed many newborns affected with gastrointestinal disorders; those that could potentially affect their health and survival. The National Neo-Gastrocon 2017 is our way of spreading awareness, augmenting neonatal survival rates and offering veteran viewpoints on evidence-based medicine. Together with Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, we welcome you to the National Neo-Gastrocon 2017.
